The summer has just slipped by almost unnoticed . Here we are in August: the CNE will be starting up in a week or so; kids will be going back to schoo; I will have to put my fall fertilizer on before long. Stop it!!!! Until this week we haven't hardly seen summer, let alone start to think about what follows.
But here at least are a few reminders that it has been a busy and fun summer. The pictures are in reverse order. In the last two you can see Nana and the boys, and Poppa/Dad and Matthew enjoying the carousel in Port Dalhousie. Matthew prefers the quieter ride from the sleigh. Jack was just wide-eyed about it all. And doesn't he just love his big brother! And in the picture above that, big brother is helping out in the kitchen shelling peas, and eating peas.
In the next few shots you can see the gargantuan fish intrepid bass fishermen Jim, Lee and Wayne hauled in in just one morning. Jim actually caught the biggest one, but I felt the picture with me holding it, shows the fish off much much better. Then there is the cottage, and the lake at dusk and.....oh yeah.....Jim rescuing Mike and Julie when the pontoon boat battery died leaving them at the far end of the lake.....twice in two weeks. And the backup battery.....yeah....that was dead too.
In the next couple of pictures you can see Jerry doing what we 'wine guys' do - appreciating the colour, legs and nose of our wine before swilling it. Wayne hosted this month's Wine Guys night with an all South African theme: all S.A wines; all S.A dishes (biltong, boerwors sausage, green bean salad, tomato stew, and some of Norah's world famouse South African banana cake!)
The final group of photos was just this past weekend. We got together with Steve's parents John and Antoinetta, for a real Portuguese meal of grilled sardines, Portuguese potatoes with tomato and onion salsa. Matthew, Jack and Kristen all enjoyed the pool as you can see! Jack is deciding that maybe now is the time....soon anyway....to take that first step. And Matthew is thinking 'these training wheels gotta go soon!'. And finally, before we left to return home Sunday, we took a trip to something-or-other Park in Guelph where Jack slept while Matthew took a few turns on the train. Jack did however wake up soon enough to get a carousel ride though.
That's it for now. Next up: The Orchard Square Annual Golf Tournament. Wait for it!
