Orchard Square Golf Day

Last Wednesday was our 4th Annual Orchard Square golf tournament held at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club. Thanks to Larry Street and his team - Dani Street, Mearl Obee, Tom Thornton and Norah for putting together another great outing.

Format for these events is 4-ball scramble so everyone can come out and enjoy themselves even if they are only once a year golfers. But since everybody's drive has to be used at least twice, everyone still gets to contribute to their team's overall result.

We finished off the day with Pizza and Beer at the Golf Club - spouses and even non-golfers welcome. Here are the day's big winners and a few pictures:

  • Men's Longest Drive - Manfred Zapke (again)
  • Ladies' Longest Drive - Norah Pickard (again)
  • Closest to the Hoop on 9 - Sue Holly
  • Ladies Closest to the Pin on 4 - Diane Hinchley
  • Men Closest to the Pin on 4 - Mearl Obee
  • Best Overall Team Score - Tom Thornton, Daryl McCrossan, John Hinchley, Sue Holly
  • Team Whose Claim to Fame Was Not Losing The Yellow Ball - Dani Street, Judy Obee, Walter Campbell and Wayne Pickard

First week of September and It's all about Jack!

We went to Guelph this past week to celebrate Kristen's birthday, and when I uploaded my photos, lo and behold, there were 5 of the birthday girl and 55 of Jack. Now this shouldn't be a big surprise. I would guess that there is probably the same proportion of 'grandchildren' photos to 'everything else I have taken a picture of in the past 3 years' on my computer. Anyway....it was Kristen's birthday. Mike and Robin came down as well on Monday to celebrate, so we had fun eating cake, playing with the little ones and talking wedding plans. Kristen and Steve were thrilled to be asked to be Matron of Honour and Best Man, and, likewise, Mike and Robin were thrilled to be asked to be Jack Ryan's co-Godparents (....the other half I am not able to divulge at this time until the lucky person or persons have been contacted personally). So it was happy, happy day all around! Here a few photos.
